BTS' 'Dynamite' music video costumes sell for $162,500 at Beverly Hills auction

Grammy nominated K-pop boy band BTS’ costumes they used for their “Dynamite” music video sold for a whopping $162,500 at an auction.

California-based Julien’s Auctions announced the winning bid for the items consisting of pastel-colored shirts, pants, hats, T-shirts and sneakers.

The costumes were offered for auction at the MusiCares Charity Relief Auction held in Beverly Hills on Jan. 31.

The winning bidders for the BTS costumes are Japanese billionaire and art collector Yusaku Maezawa and popular Japanese YouTuber Hikakin.

Yusaku Maezawa announced on Twitter that they won the bidding and asked BTS ARMYs to suggest what they should do with the costumes. The winning bidders will also release videos on their YouTube channels about the auction.

Proceeds will go to MusiCares Foundation, which will give aid to people affected by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, according to the MusiCares website.

BTS offered to donate their costumes, estimated to be from $20,000 to $40,000, for the charity event.

The “Dynamite” music video was released on Aug. 21 last year and became the most viewed MV in the first 24 hours of release with 101.1 million views.

“Dynamite” debuted on top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart and became BTS’ ticket to bag a nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 63rd Grammy Awards which will be held on March 14.
