'Space Sweeper' sequel's filming might be delayed by Song Joong Ki's busy sked?

After the massive success of Song Joong Ki’s sci fi adventure Space Sweepers, a sequel is reportedly in the works. However, filming might be delayed by the star’s previous commitments.

According to reports, production is in exploratory talks about the possibility of a follow up movie. While details are not yet being discussed, the filmmakers are also reportedly considering a release in China.

Space Sweepers was originally set for release in Korean theaters in 2020. However, due to restrictions brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the production behind Space Sweepers opted for a global release on streaming platform Netflix.

It immediately rose to the top of Netflix charts immediately after its release, that it spawned the possibility of a sequel.

However, filming the sequel may have to wait if the second movie intends to enlist Song Joong Ki as part of the cast. The actor is currently busy filming for the drama Vincenzo which is also topping the Netflix charts in the Philippines and other parts of Asia after the release of its first two episodes.

Song Joong Ki is also expected to return to filming Bogota. It can be recalled that production was halted last year due to a spike in COVID-19 cases in Colombia. The studio behind the film assured that they will continue with the project as soon as conditions improve.
