Zamboanga Sibugay town vice mayor shot dead

ZAMBOANGA CITY – The vice mayor of Mabuhay, Zamboanga Sibugay was killed while two others were wounded in a shooting incident in Barangay Poblacion, Mabuhay Friday.

Initial report from the Police Regional Office 9 said the incident happened at 3:05 p.m.

The fatality was identified as Vice Mayor Restituto B. Calonge. The wounded on the other hand were Engr. Edgar Pampanga and Hdj. Abduhari Gapor.

The report said the three victims were having a conversation near the municipal hall when a man approached and opened fire at them.

Police said the victims sustained bullet wounds on different parts of their bodies.

Calonge died on the spot while Pampanga and Gapor were taken to the hospital.

Based on recovered cartridges at the crime scene, the victims were shot with a caliber .45 pistol.

The suspect fled onboard a motorcycle.

The Mabuhay Police Station (MPS) is now conducting a hot pursuit operation against the gunman.
