Nathalie Hart apologizes after receiving backlash on LGBTQ comments

Award-winning actress Nathalie Hart was quick to admit to her wrongdoing, releasing a public apology after she made remarks about LGBTQ recently.

"Hello guys. My close friends and family know how much I love gay people. I'm sorry if I offended the LGBTQ community, for the remarks I made which were taken out of context," Nathalie wrote on Instagram.

Nathalie said she regretted her actions and that she "truly apologizes" to the people she has "offended."

"I'm truly sorry," she said.

Recall that online content creator Tina Boado has called out Nathalie for her interview she had with Bulletin Entertainment a few days ago.

On Twitter, she expressed disappointment about Nathalie's remarks.

"Nothing more frustrating than having your love story depicted on mainstream media, only for you to find out later on that a homophobe played your role," she wrote. "Sorry kung hindi mo maasiwa yung katiboan ko ha."

Then, she declared that she and her partner Roanne's story deserves better.

"Anyway, we poured our hearts into the making of this ep. Roanne & I are happy to have met allies w/in MMK… I hope that this serves as a lesson for the industry moving forward… Mag focus na lang tayo sa kwento ng episode namin on the 27th at hindi sa mga artista. #MMKwentongRoTin," she said in another post, along with the screenshot of Nathalie's statement.

“It’s my first time to play a lesbian role. I’m very excited na nagawa ko siya at nalunok ko yung role na ito. I think I gave justice to the role,” said Nathalie, during a mini-press conference for select members of the entertainment press in Quezon City last Feb. 22.

“Ang hirap ng role kasi you have to think na you’re in love with a woman. Ang hirap talaga. Mas madali sa akin makipagtitigan sa lalaki kahit kaninong actor (but not with same sex),” she said.

The single mom said she never had any same-sex relationship as she revealed she could not relate to the lesbian role in “MMK.”

Spoken word phenomenon and writer-director Juan Miguel Severo couldn't help but also react to it.

"Nanggigigil ako rito sa Nathalie Hart statement, ha," he wrote. "Please, please, please, prods! Kung hindi ninyo kayang mag-cast ng mga miyembro ng LGBTQIA community, observe due diligence man lang to make sure that these actors are aligned with the politics and the message of your story."

"Bakit kamo importante? Exactly because of how stupidly insensitive she was in that interview! Especially, MMK! She portrayed an actual person! Her lack of empathy (an actor without empathy!) in that statement only furthers the notion that our identity is merely a performance!," he added.
