MEME QUEEN? Why netizens are saying Mel Tiangco is 'first Pinay on Mars'

Veteran broadcast journalist Mel Tiangco became a subject of memes again after her report about the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Perseverance Rover on Mars went viral.

During her introduction about the news, fans couldn't help but praise "24 Oras" for its state-of-the-art simulations.

The comment section of the program's YouTube channel was filled with witty remarks.

"Congrats Tita Mel for being the first pinay na nakapunta sa Mars," one netizen wrote.

"Keep safe Mam Mel pag uwe ng Earth," 
"Tita Mel lang malakas."

Netizens defended GMA Network from bashers of its graphic skills.

"Can’t y’all just appreciate GMA's editing? Be honest guys it is really good," a comment said.

"Grabe makabash yung iba sa animation, honestly there's no harm in trying, our technology isn't as advanced as the US and other countries, put that into consideration before saying anything," another netizen said.

"Knowing na live ang show, still maganda pa rin. No need to critic the animation. Overall GMA so far ang nakakagawa ng ganyan sa News program in the Ph."

This is not the first time that netizens were entertained with Mel's reporting.

A few years ago, there were memes about the graphic simulation of flood that swept the studio and the virtual MRT train which almost hit the broadcaster.
