Former K-pop boy band B.A.P member Himchan, 30, will be spending time in prison after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in 2018.
The Seoul Central District Court on Feb. 24 sentenced Himchan to 10 months in prison and ordered him to undergo 40 hours of sexual violence treatment program.
According to the court, based on the evidence, the victim’s statement was sufficiently credible and the sentence was handed down as the victim has not forgiven him.
However, Himchan was not arrested in court to give him an opportunity to be forgiven by the victim.
Himchan was accused of sexually harassing a woman in her 20s at a pension house in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province on July 24, 2018.
At the time, three men including Himchan and three women were drinking at the pension house and police were called when the victim made a report.
“A person who, through violence or intimidation, commits an indecent act on another shall be punished by imprisonment for not more than ten years or by a fine not exceeding 15 million won ,” according to Article 298, or Indecent Act of Compulsion, of Korea’s Criminal Act.
B.A.P debuted in 2012 and in 2019, Himchan left TS Entertainment. He made his solo debut last October with “Reason of My Life” but was booked by the police for drunk driving after it was released.
