Riccardo Tisci explores the great outdoors for Burberry's AW21 presentation

British luxury fashion house Burberry presented its first-ever menswear-focused collection under Riccardo Tisci's creative direction for autumn-winter 2021. 

With wilderness as the main keynote of the collection, Riccardo opted to showcase pieces ready to take on the great outdoors. Presented in a multilevel stage with ceiling to floor curtains and concrete blocks in the historic flagship store of Burberry located at 121 Regent street, London, the diverse selection of models showed up in layered deconstructed garments.

The first look is a reconstructed coat in a signature Burberry beige color paired with a tunic, pleated inner. Kilts also flooded the runway in fall shades worn over tights or trousers. Native-inspired fringes also appeared in the garments as part of hems and details on shirts. 

The designer din not stray away from clean lines and tailored silhouettes the brand is known for, but anchored much of its design with a new angle. Some of the notable pieces were long coats which features v-necklines with no collars, tailored shorts with front oversized slits, trousers with extra angular details on the sides, plus a varsity jacket in vest form. 

Another Burberry staple which was present in this collection are umbrellas—this time, packed with blankets on the models’ backpacks.
