CIC doing double time on P15-B Cavitex C-5 link

Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation (CIC) is doing double time early this year to complete new segments of the P15.3 Billion, 7.7 kilometer Manila-Cavite Expressway (Cavitex) C-5 Link Expressway by second quarter, 2022.

"We are doubling our efforts on the construction of Segment 2 and Segment 3A-2 this beginning of 2021," confirmed Roberto V. Bontia, CIC President and General Manager.

The link expressway will serve 50,000 cars daily and reduce travel time from Cavitex R-1 Expressway to C5 Taguig from over an hour to ten minutes.

"With the challenges brought about by the pandemic, we will ensure to stick to the timeline as close as we can and be able to the open the new segments in Cavitex C5 Link next year," he noted.

The C5 Link Expressway is composed of Segments 2 and 3.

Segment 2 is a 1.9-kilometer, 2x3 lane expressway from Cavitex (R1) Expressway to a proposed interchange at Sucat Segment 3A-2, a 1.6-kilometer, 2x3 lane expressway from Merville to RSG (Airport View) Subdivision in Parañaque.

Part of the on-going works include foundation works and other mobilization activities at Segment 3A-2 (MIAA area) and ground improvements at Segment 2 at Sucat Interchange and R-1(Cavitex) Expressway.

The project will generate at least 1000 jobs during construction phase and at the operation and maintenance phase.

At present, the construction employs 200 workers average per day and is 24/7 operational.

CIC intends to maintain the performance standard of the expressway and starts its 60-day mobilization this Saturday, February 27, 2021.

Inasmuch as the ongoing work will affect motorists, "We have laid out a comprehensive traffic management plan to ease their passage," Bontia announced.

CIC is also putting additional on-ground support and more signages to ensure safety and smooth flow of vehicles.

"We are working together with our JV partner the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) and the PEATC on the implementation of the traffic management activities at Cavitex R1 segment,” he added.

Aside from Cavitex, Cavitex C5 Link Expressway, and the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), CIC's parent firm, Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), operates the North Luzon Expressway (“NLEX”), the Subic-Clark Tarlac Expressway (“SCTEX”), the NLEX Connector Road, and the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (“CCLEX”) in Cebu.
