House solon lauds Bren's M2 victory

Heaps of praise continued to pour for Bren Esports as Leyte representativeÂ Lucy Torres-Gomez filed on Tuesday, February 2, a resolutionÂ honoring the decorated esports organization for winning the recently concluded M2 World Championship held in Singapore.Â

Celebrity-turned-politician Torres-Gomez, wife of Ormoc City mayor Richard Gomez, filed House Resolution No. 1524 titled "Resolution commending and congratulating Bren Esports for winning the Mobile Legends: Big Bang M2 World Championship held in Singapore on January 18-24, 2021".Â

Yes, you read it right.

The document misspelled a part of the name of Moonton's popular mobile MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) game, putting "Big Bang" instead of "Bang Bang".Â

Nevertheless, it was a great way of recognizing the milestone made by Bren and the growth of the Philippine esports industry as well.Â

The Bernard Chong-owned organization snagged the M2 world title after taking down Burmese Ghouls of Myanmar, 4-3, in the nail-biting grand finals last January 24.Â

Bren, also the reigning MPL Philippines king, is composed of starting players Karl "KarlTzy" Nepomuceno, CJ "Ribo" Ribo, Angelo "Pheww" Arcangel, Allan "Lusty" Castromayor and David "FlapTzy" Canon, reserves EJ "Ejhay" Sambrano and Mico "Coco" Sampang, and coach Francis "Duckey" Glindro.Â

Four standouts in KarlTzy, Ribo, Pheww and Lusty also brought pride to the country by capturing the gold medal in one of the six esports competitions in the 2019 SEA Games.
