PSL set to ink deal with new broadcast partner

The Philippine Superliga (PSL) is negotiating with GMA 7 to be its new broadcast partner after parting ways with TV5.

PSL chairman Philip Ella Juico announced this Tuesday, adding that they are in talks with the television giant to first air the beach volleyball scheduled on Feb. 26.

“We’re starting fresh,” Juico said during his appearance at the Philippine Sportswriters Association Online Forum.

Juico said “there’s no other sensible reason to stay with TV5” after a six-year partnership since Cignal officially notified them of joining the Premier Volleyball League.

“We have to adjust with the reality of the situation,” Juico said.

Juico added they will remain a non-professional league and are inviting two to three teams to join four squads namely Sta. Lucia, F2 Logistics, Chery Tiggo and guest team Petro Gazz.

Petro Gazz is originally playing for the PVL, but the team assured they are allowed to join the PSL as long as there is no conflict of schedule.

Petron, Generika Ayala and Marinerang Pilipina took leave of absences, but Juico is optimistic of their future plans for the league as they wait for the Inter-Agency Task Force approval.
