Legendary: Harry Potter and Frodo together on a magazine cover

The magic lives on

Movie stars Elijah Wood and Daniel Racliffe join together in the cover of Empire Magazine in celebration of the 20th anniversary release of the films "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" and "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone."

The two films, which are now among the greatest movie franchises of the 2000s, hail from the works of authors J.R.R. Tolkien and J.K. Rowling. Movie fanatics were introduced to the fantasy world of Middle-earth and Hogwarts, and quickly fell for the franchises' respective heroes—Elijah as the big-footed young hobbit named Frodo Baggins and Daniel as Harry Potter, the young wizard famous for this lightning bolt scar in the forehead.

"The upcoming new issue of Empire is an epic 20th anniversary celebration of the two most iconic magical franchises in cinema history–and this month’s newsstand cover features Wood and Radcliffe together at last, photographed for Empire by Art Streiber," the magazine says.

Apart from catching-up with the two stars, the 38-page feature also includes an interview with "Harry Potter" producer Daniel Heyman on fan questions, how the two worlds came to life on the screens, and more on what made the franchises a staple of pop culture.

The 2000s truly was a magical time for film.
