Philippine Davis Cuppers Francis Casey Alcantara and Ruben Gonzales return to court for the first time in nearly a year when they compete in the ASC BMW Men’s World Tennis Tour in Naples, Florida starting this week.

This would be Alcantara and Gonzales' first tournament as a pair since being sidelined with the travel and health restrictions brought by the pandemic.

They last saw action in the World Group II Davis Cup playoff tie for the Philippine team against Greece bannered by world No. 6 Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Alcantara’s last stint, though, was at the $15,000 hardcourt event in Qatar in March last year, which was halted midway the tournament due to rising pandemic concerns.

But Alcantara and Gonzales, ranked No. 613 and 236 in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) doubles, are raring to get back into the action, hoping to carry the chemistry they had during the Davis Cup tie against Greece.

The duo provided the team’s love match win in that 4-1 tie loss.

Alcantara and Gonzales will be playing in the two legs of the said $25,000 Futures event and are looking forward to more competitions as the restrictions to hold tournaments around the globe continue to ease up.
