Kai Sotto launches Philippine-themed shirt

Kai Sotto has his own way of showing appreciation to Gilas Pilipinas and the Filipino community amid the cancellation of the third window of the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers.

Sotto on Friday, Feb. 12, launched a Philippine-themed shirt as a remembrance and in celebration of his participation with Gilas Pilipinas.

Donning the same color of Gilas, the shirt incorporates the Philippine flag, the country's map, and the Kaiju logo along with his jersey No. 11.

The shirt can be availed at $30 or around P1,442 and ranges from small to 3XL in size.

"I am so happy that I can play for our country. Playing for my country is one of my two dreams so it seems right that we have a remembrance of it!" wrote the 18-year-old Sotto on Instagram.

"Thank you to everyone who to support me and encourage me on my journey. I still have a long way to go but your patience and love have kept me going! I’m so happy to see that our #kaijutribe is ever growing!"

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas earlier confirmed the cancellation that saw Sotto missing games both in FIBA set next week in Doha, Qatar, and his NBA G League debut with Team Ignite which started on Wednesday, Feb. 10, on US soil.

The 7-foot-3 Filipino youngster opted to skip his NBA G League stint in exchange for a chance to represent the Philippines in FIBA.

Sotto arrived in the country last Feb. 2 and since then spent time in quarantine before joining his teammates at the Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna.
