Pasay mayor promotes importance of vaccination after contracting COVID-19
Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano used her condition after contracting coronavirus disease (COVID-19) to promote and highlight the importance of having everyone vaccinated.

Rubiano has also doubled down her appeal to Pasay City residents to fully cooperate with the planned citywide immunization program against the virus.
“Dito natin makikita na walang pinipili ang sakit na ito at talagang kailangan natin ang tulong ng pagbabakuna at pagdadasal sa Panginoon para matalo natin ang sakit na ito (The coronavirus does not choose who to infect and we really need to be inoculated. Let us all pray to Almighty God to defeat the virus),” Rubiano said.
While under isolation, the mayor ordered the full disinfection of Pasay City Hall after she was tested positive for COVID-19 which she apparently contracted the virus from a city government employee.
Rubiano said that she would continue to serve the people even while on quarantine.
Rubiano also gave a “no interruption of service” directive to all the local government personnel.
“Tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang tapat na serbisyo ng ating lungsod, inatasan ko na ang lahat ng departamento na huwag pabayaan ang ating mga kababayan. Inutusan ko na rin ang ating mga opisyal at kawani sa city hall na ituloy pa rin ang mga programa ng gobyerno kahit sa aking kalagayan (Service in the city will still continue and I ordered all the departments to continue serving the people in my absence),” Rubiano said.
Meanwhile, messages of prayers and well-wishes flooded the city government’s official social media page under the Public Information Office (PIO), as well as the mayor’s personal online accounts, after learning about Rubiano’s condition.
Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin Jr. in his Twitter account wrote his message for the mayor: “Sorry Ma’am, wish you safe recovery and all the best.”
Senator Bong Go likewise sent his well-wishing message to Rubiano via text messaging for her to get well soon and he also informed her that he was praying for her.
Other members of the Senate and the House of Representatives as well as mayors from the National Capital Region and other local government units, national and local political leaders like Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Benhur Abalos, have sent messages of support to Rubiano.
The people of Pasay also extended messages of support to Rubiano, many of which were praying for her speedy recovery.
For her part, Rubiano was thankful for the messages of support even as she assured that all the necessary precautions and comprehensive contact tracing were conducted to ensure that the virus would be stopped from its tracks.
