Diana Ross on The Supremes: 'The best girl group ever period'

Despite the feud, Motown legend Diana Ross offered her condolences to the family of Mary Wilson, co-member of the girl group The Supremes, who passed away on Feb. 9.

"I woke up to the news. My condolences to Mary’s family. I am reminded that each day is a gift. I have so many wonderful memories of our time together. “The Supremes” will live on in our hearts. ?" said Ross on Instagram Feb. 10.

Ross also shared another snap calling The Supremes as "The Best Girl Group Ever Period." The group has 12 No. 1 songs on the Billboard chart.

In August 2000, Ross discussed her alleged feud with Wilson during a sit-down interview with esteemed broadcast journalist Barbra Walters.

“It makes me quite sad. The first thing she said was, “what took you so long?”. I think if we offered her the moon, she would not have been happy. She’s had a lot of pain,” said Ross in an article by The Telegraph.

Wilson figured in a 1994 driving accident in which she sustained serious injuries and in which her 14 year-old son Rafael died.

“She is targeting me. I see such unhappiness coming out of her,” added Ross in the same interview.

Wilson claimed her former bandmate had struck a deal whereby Ross would receive “$15 to $20 million” for a Supremes tour, while she would get “two million…maybe three”. Cindy Birdsong, the other surviving vocalist, would receive even less.

“There is a certain thing about Diana,” said Wilson. “She wants everything herself.”
