Villar now part of Marcos' senatorial slate

Presidential aspirant Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has included former Public Works and Highways and senatorial candidate Mark Villar in his senatorial slate for the upcoming 2022 elections.

Marcos Jr. confirmed Villar's inclusion in the UniTeam ticket after the former Cabinet member joined him and his ally, vice presidential candidate Sara Duterte, in a political rally in Cavite province on Thursday.

UniTeam is an alliance between Marcos Jr. and Duterte, who belong to different parties.

"Kaya (So) we shouldn’t have been surprised na sumama siya sa lakad namin kaninang umaga (that he joined us in our rally). So, yes that’s the reason why Mark Villar is part of our Senatorial list," Marcos Jr. told reporters.

"Mark Villar is one on the first of our senatorial lists because siya ang una kong nakausap (he's the one I first talked to). Bago pa magfiling maliwanag ang kanyang balak na tumakbo bilang senador at magkaibigan naman talaga kami ng mga Villar dahil galing nga ako ng NP (Nacionalista Party) (Before the filing of candidacy, he's very clear with his decision to run for senator. I'm also friends with the Villars since I came from NP)," he added.

Marcos Jr. also said he will announce "in the next few days" his complete senatorial slate.

"We just have to fix the arrangement between the different parties. Yun na lang, mga formalities na lang ng mga grupo (We're just waiting for the formalities). So, that is the situation right now," he added.

Marcos Jr. and Duterte led their political rally in Bacoor City, Cavite. They were joined by Villar, senatorial aspirants Harry Roque and Jinggoy Estrada, congressional aspirant Gloria Arroyo and Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin Romualdez.
