One of 8 travelers from South Africa located, says DOH

One of the eight travelers from South Africa has been located.

The Department of Health (DOH) confirmed this on Wednesday, Dec. 8.

"As of Dec. 6, 2021, there are seven remaining unlocated travelers from South Africa and all were returning overseas Filipinos," Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in a statement.

"Three with given agency number, not personal number; one incorrect number; one incomplete number; and two uncontactable," she added.

Vergeire said they are continuously getting in touch with the local government units and other partners to be able to contact the said individuals.

As to the located ROF, the DOH said, the individual is currently in "home quarantine, with negative RT-PCR test, and no symptoms."

Meanwhile, Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) said they continue to work with the Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to locate the said travelers.

BOQ Deputy Director Roberto Salvador, Jr. said they will use the addresses given by the ROFs to find them.

"They have addresses of their provinces. We already gave these to the Philippine National Police and their LGUs so we can locate them," he said during the Laging Handa public briefing.

"We are coordinating with their manning agencies for them to help us trace our countrymen we need to monitor," added Salvador.

"We need to contact them to make sure that they have no symptoms while undergoing home quarantine," he said.

The eight travelers arrived in the Philippines in November.
