Taguig City ranks 2nd among LGUs with highest daily COVID-19 cases in PH

Taguig City logged a record 19 daily coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases on Dec. 6, thus, making it the second local government unit (LGU) in the country with the.highest number of COVID-19 cases.

According to Dr. Guido David of OCTA Research, Taguig has 19 new COVID-19 cases on Dec. 6 based on the Department of Health’s Data Drop.

This made Taguig the LGU in the country with the second highest number of COVID-19 cases behind Zamboanga City, which has 28.

Based on the data by the Taguig City government, as of Dec. 5, the city has 50 active COVID-19 cases including five new cases out of 52,242 confirmed cases, 51,761 recoveries, and 431 deaths.

According to David, the top 20 LGUs in the country with the highest new COVID-19 cases for Dec. 6 are:

1. Zamboanga City - 28

2. Taguig City - 19

3. Quezon City - 19

4. City of Manila - 17

5. City of Valenzuela - 11

6. Solano, Nueva Vizcaya - 11

7. Dumaguete City - 10

8. Bacolod City - 9

9. City of Pasig - 9

10. City of General Trias, Cavite - 9

11. Calbayog City - 8

12. Caloocan City - 7

13. San Mariano, Isabela -7

14. City of Bayawan, Negros Oriental - 6

15. Tacloban City - 6

16. City of Isabela - 6

17. City of Vigan - 6

18. City of Antipolo, Rizal - 5

19. City of Paranaque - 5

20. Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya - 5

Based on its own report from Nov. 27 to Dec. 2, the Taguig City government recorded 183 total cases.

Taguig has 87 active COVID-19 cases as of Dec. 2, the third highest in the National Capital Region (NCR). It also placed sixth among NCR LGUs based on active cases per 100,000 population.

By age group, the 18-29 years old bracket has the highest active cases with 25, followed by 30-44 with 23, 45-59 with 11, 14-17 with eight and 10-13 with seven.
