La Trinidad, Benguet's temperature plunges to 10.8°C; lowest so far this 'amihan' season

The municipality of La Trinidad in Benguet on Tuesday, Dec. 7 felt the coldest temperature so far in the country this 2021-2022 northeast monsoon or "amihan" season at 10.8 degrees Celsius (°C).

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the low temperature was registered at the Benguet State University's agrometeorology station in La Trinidad, Benguet.

Other PAGASA monitoring stations that recorded the lowest air temperatures on Tuesday morning were:

Baguio City (13.8℃, 4 a.m.)

San Jose, Occidental Mindoro (18.1°C, 5 a.m.)

Basco, Batanes (19.0℃, 8 a.m.)

Tanay, Rizal (19.0℃)

Casiguran, Aurora (19.4°C, 6 a.m.)

Malaybalay, Bukidnon (19.6°C)

Abucay, Bataan (20.4°C)

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan (20.4°C)

Infanta, Quezon (20.5°C)

Science Garden station, Quezon City (20.8°C)

PAGASA said the average minimum temperatures during December range from 13 degrees Celsius (°C) to 22°C in northern Luzon; 13°C to 26°C in lowlands Luzon; 10°C to 13°C in mountainous Luzon; 19°C to 25°C in Metro Manila; 20°C to 25°C in lowlands Visayas; 19°C to 24°C in lowlands Mindanao; and 16°C to 17°C in mountainous Mindanao.

The lowest temperature ever recorded in Baguio City was 6.3℃ on Jan. 18, 1961, while it was registered twice in Metro Manila, on Feb. 4, 1987, and Dec. 30, 1988, at 15.1 degrees Celsius.
