More than 500 students participate in pilot run of face-to-face classes in QC

More than 500 students participated in the Department of Education’s (DepEd) pilot implementation of limited face-to-face classes in Quezon City on Monday, Dec.6.

The Schools Division Office (SDO) said that 224 students in Kinder to Grade 3 levels from Payatas B Annex Elementary School, and 388 Grade 3 students from Bagong Silangan Elementary School participated.

According to the local government, all teachers and personnel on the said pilot run are fully vaccinated, while students must be from a fully vaccinated household.

“All learners and teachers and personnel will also have to undergo antigen testing. Our City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) will be going in their schools to test everyone to make sure that no one is infected with the virus,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.

Around 36 teachers and staff participated at Payatas B Annex while 55 teachers and non-teaching personnel in Bagong Silangan. Classes in Bagong Silangan will be divided into morning and afternoon sessions.

Students who participated in the pilot run should be residents of areas near the school.

Safety officers will be roaming around the school compound to make sure that health protocols are being followed.

Parents and guardians will not be allowed to enter the school premises.

The city government also asked assistance from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) and barangay enforcers to ensure that there is no crowding near the school.
