Flooding, landslides likely as shear line brings rains over eastern Mindanao -- PAGASA

The shear line, also known as tail-end of frontal system, may bring scattered light rains with occasional heavy rains and thunderstorms over Caraga and Davao regions in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Monday morning, Dec. 6.

PAGASA advised those affected by the shear line to stay vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides, especially in the event of moderate to heavy rains.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon, locally called "amihan," may bring light rains over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, and the northern portion of Quezon including Polillo Islands.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon and the Visayas may also have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light monsoon rains.

PAGASA said the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

However, it warned the public that the occurrence of severe thunderstorms may trigger flash floods or landslides.

PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said there was no low pressure area inside or outside the Philippine area of responsibility, based on the latest weather bulletin.
