DSWD recognized for 'effective' cashless SAP distribution

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has been recognized for its “effective” cashless distribution of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) cash subsidies.

The GCash Digital Excellence Award in Digital Public Aid Distribution was conferred to the DSWD on Dec. 1.

The speech was delivered by Undersecretary for Social Welfare and Development Danilo G. Pamonag.

The DSWD received the GCash Digital Excellence Award from the National Government Agency Sector “for its effective cashless disbursement of the SAP in partnership with Financial Service Providers (FSPs).”

“I would like to thank GCash for recognizing the Department. May we continue to become partners towards sustaining the impact of the developmental initiatives that we have established,” Pamonag said.

GCash, Robinsons Bank, Unionbank, RCBC, Paymaya and Starpay were tapped for SAP 2 digital distribution.

The DSWD inked an agreement with GCash for the cashless disbursement of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS).

It was Director Andrew Ambubuyog of the DSWD-Information and Communication Technology Management Service who received the trophy on behalf of the DSWD, and attended the ceremonial toast during the virtual awarding ceremony.

“Allow me to convey our gratitude for this award. Hindi naman lingid sa lahat na malaki ang naitulong ng GCash sa pag-distribute ng SAP sa gitna ng pandemiya,” Ambubuyog said, upon receiving the award.

With the conferment of GCash Digital Excellence Award in Digital Public Aid Distribution, the DSWD vowed to “develop other interventions to effectively and efficiently deliver social protection packages to every Filipino.”
