Comelec warns politicians of scam

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Monday, Dec. 6 warned politicians not to fall for a scam of con artists who are claiming they can rig the poll results.

"Over the weekend. We have gotten a lot of reports of people trying to run a con. Telling politicians pwede mag bayad pwede manalo (they can pay to win)," Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez said in a press briefing in Manila.

"There had been coming to us about some politicians being approached by supposed operatives either by the Comelec or service provider saying na pwede mabili ang (they can buy the) election system," he added.

"This is false. This is the same kind of scam that is run on unsuspecting politicians since 2010...they approach both sides, especially when your talking single position races... To offer the same deal that way who ever win, wins. Who ever loses gets a refund," said Jimenez.

He stressed that this is not possible.

"We would like to remind everyone, we would like to remind the politicians especially not to be misled into believing this is possible. Hindi po possible ito (This is not possible)," said Jimenez.
