Pateros now COVID-19 free

The Municipality of Pateros in Metro Manila has become free of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases since the pandemic started last year.

Pateros achieved the status on Dec. 4 when it recorded zero active COVID-19 case and zero new case, according to data from the Pateros Health Department. It is the first local government unit in Metro Manila to reach the status.

As of Dec. 4, Pateros has zero active case out of 7,957 confirmed cases, 7,840 total recoveries and 106 deaths, according to the municipal government data.

The zero case status has been praised by netizens who lauded Mayor Miguel “Ike” Ponce III for his efforts.

“Thank you Lord! Thank you Mayor Ike. Masipag po kasi kayong magpa-alala sa taong bayan ukol sa Covid. God bless Pateros! Ingat pa rin po tayo,” one netizen posted on Facebook.

Another wrote, “Thank you Lord at sa mga magigiyung natin lingkod bayan sa pamumuno ni Mayor Ike Ponce, at sa mga matatapang na frontliners! To God be the glory!”

“Congratulations to all of us. Continue observing health protocol and cooperating with the program being implemented by our local government. Kudos po sa npakasipag naming mayor ,Mayor Ponce!! God bless us all,”one netizen commented.

In its last public update on Nov. 24, the municipal government recorded eight active cases out of 7,934 confirmed cases, 7,818 recoveries and 105 deaths.

As of Nov. 24, the municipal government has vaccinated 69,634 individuals with the first dose, or 124 percent of the target population of 56,000, and 99.47 percent of its total population of 70,000.

In addition, 62,468 individuals were fully vaccinated, or 111.55 percent of the target population and 89.24 percent of the total population.

Among those vaccinated were 4,601 minors aged 12 to 17 with the first dose, and 1,288 adults who received booster shots.
