Ray Parks powers Nagoya past Shimane; Ramos, Toyama yield to Ryukyu

Ray Parks Jr. topscored with 20 points as the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins beat the Shimane Susanoo Magic, 82-73, yesterday in the resumption of Japan’s B.League first division.

Parks shot 7-of-15 from the field and added four rebounds and two assists to help the Diamond Dolphins improve to a tie for third place in the East district with the Shinshu Brave Warriors at 9-6.

Dwight Ramos and the Toyama Grouses saw their three-game winning streak come to an end after a 91-66 loss to the Ryukyu Golden Kings.

Ramos put up six points, four rebounds and two assists but the Grouses dropped to 4-11 at the Okinawa Arena.

Toyama had no answer for three-time PBA Best Import Allen Durham, who led Ryukyu with 20 points and 13 rebounds.

Matthew Aquino and Javi Gomez de Liano played three minutes each for their teams which suffered defeats in the division’s first weekend after a lengthy break due to the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.

Aquino and the Shinshu Brave Warriors lost 72-63 to the Utsunomiya Brex in their first match since advancing to the quarterfinals of the Emperor’s Cup.

Gomez de Liano and the Ibaraki Robots fell short in their upset bid against the defending champion Chiba Jets, who claimed an 83-77 win.
