Robredo urges Filipinos: 'Continue to help each other amid difficulties'

While Vice President Leni Robredo said 2022 is a time for renewed hopes and chances, she encouraged Filipinos to remain as compassionate as they were this year and continue to join hands in helping one another amid difficulties.

In a message issued on Friday, Dec. 31, Robredo said she and her family, and the Office of the Vice President staff join the nation in welcoming the new year.

She hopes that as Filipinos welcome the new year, they would look and reflect on back at the lessons brought to the fore in 2021.

"This is a time for renewed hopes, renewed chances, and renewed strength to face what lies ahead," Robedo said.

"This is also a time to look back at the year that passed, and the lesson that came along with it: That despite the many difficulties we faced, we pulled through because we joined hands and helped one another," she added.

The Vice President also expressed hopes that Filipinos continue to open their hearts to people in need in times of difficulties.

"This New Year, I pray that we choose to stay on this path: Let us share in each other’s burdens and open our hearts to the truth that all of our experiences and futures are connected and intertwined," she said.

"We look forward to a brighter and more prosperous 2022 because we understand that there is strength to be drawn from each other, and that this strength will always be enough to get us through any challenge that lies ahead," she added as she wished everyone a "blessed and hopeful 2022."

Robredo, who is running for president in the 2022 national elections, is currently undergoing quarantine until early January after her exposure to her close-in security who tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
