The Manila COVID-19 Field Hospital in front of the Quirino Grandstand in Ermita, Manila is ready to accommodate over 100 returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs) after being inspected by the Department of Health (DOH) and the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ).
About 104 ROFs positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were admitted to the Manila COVID-19 Field Hospital on Friday, Dec. 31.
Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso personally welcomed the ROFs to the field hospital and assured them that the cost of their stay would be shouldered by the Manila city government.
“Ito ay ang aming pagpapasalamat sa inyo. Alam ko mahirap maging OFW (This is our gratitude to you. I know it’s hard to be an OFW and) of all the things and challenges of being an OFW, tapos (and then) there is a threat and stress on your job... the Manila government will shoulder the expenses until the ROFs complete their isolation here in the Manila Field Hospital,” said Domagoso.
On the same day, Taguig Mayor Lino Cayetano, DOH Secretary Francisco Duque, and Chief Implementer of the National Task Force for COVID-19 Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. visited the Manila COVID-19 Field Hospital.
Duque and Galvez inspected and approved the use of the hospital for ROFs.
The COVID-19 hospital can accommodate 344 patients. It is intended for infected patients who are asymptomatic or experiencing mild symptoms.
Patients who are under quarantine in the Manila COVID-19 Field Hospital also have access to Manila’s supply of Remdesivir, Tocilizumab and Molnupiravir, drugs which are believed to be effective in treating COVID-19.
