DSWD extends help to typhoon-hit communities in Negros Oriental

As part of its initiative in helping the “Odette”-hit communities, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rolando Bautista, together with President Rodrigo Duterte visited Central Visayas.

In a statement, DSWD said the visitation was conducted on Wednesday, Dec. 29,

to check the initial distribution of financial assistance in Negros Oriental.

“The financial assistance was provided through the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) for each partially and totally affected family,” said DSWD.

The AICS distribution was held in the municipalities of Bais, Mabinay, Bindoy, and Manjuyod in Negros Oriental.

Based on the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council’s (NDRRMC) tally issued on Friday, Dec. 31, a total of 1.1 million families or 4.4 million individuals have been affected by the recent onslaught of typhoon Odette. (Charie Mae F. Abarca)
