Zubiri: Individuals who skip quarantine protocols are ''stupid, irresponsible individuals''
Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri on Thursday, Dec. 30 tagged persons who skipped COVID-19 quarantine protocols as ‘’stupid, irresponsible individuals.’’
‘’It has come to our attention that there are individuals who have skipped quarantine protocols coming in from abroad and have thus come out positive and have infected a number of people through community transmissions,’’ Zubiri said.
Zubiri stressed that these individuals used connections and their money to avoid the required isolation to protect the population from infection.
‘’One example is an individual who allegedly skipped her quarantine protocols to attend parties of their friends who have now all tested positive with Covid 19,’’ he pointed out.
Zubiri said this act is ‘’irresponsible, illegal and unforgivable.’’
‘’Dozens are now sick with some hospitalized due to the quick spread of the virus which could possibly be Omicron,’’ he added.
Zubiri then urged the Department of Tourism (DoT), Department of Health (DoH) as well as the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) ‘’to investigate this matter and penalize the perpetrators starting from the quarantine facilities who allow this to happen as well as those unscrupulous individuals who skip quarantine protocols and put so many lives in danger as well as the potential strain on our health care system.’’
‘’This blatant disregard for health protocols should not be tolerated and should be punished regardless of who they may be. Let us all be vigilant as I’m worried that the highly transmissible Omicron variant has gotten in to our communities due to these stupid irresponsible individuals,’’ he added.
