WATCH OUT: 10-year-old child asks Alexa for a dare—touch live plug with penny
It's called "the penny challenge"
Gadgets can be a boon and a bane, and it all depends on how us humans use them. Take for example, Amazon's Alexa that has been quite helpful, especially to parents. Alexa is a virtual assistant technology that works through voice command and automatically activates assigned gadgets.

But like any gadget that's become a household staple, children also tend to be comfortable using them as well. This is what happened to Kristin Livdhal when her 10-year-old child asked for a challenge, and good thing she was there when it happened. "My 10-year-old just asked Alexa on our Echo for a challenge and this is what she said,"she posted on Twitter which has now become viral.
She also shared an image as proof that Alexa did challenged her child—"Here's something I found on the web. According to ourcommunitynow.com: The challenge is simple: plug in a phone charger about halfway into a wall outlet, then touch a penny to the exposed prongs." It even came with a 20-second timer.
"Customer trust is at the center of everything we do and Alexa is designed to provide accurate, relevant, and helpful information to customers. As soon as we became aware of this error, we quickly fixed it, and will continue to advance our systems to help prevent similar responses in the future," an Amazon representtive tells CNN.
It can be remembered that this is referred to as the "penny challenge" which became a hit in the year 2020 with netizens, especially parents, being warned about this fatal dare.
