The City of Manila has recorded an increase of over 100 active coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases from Dec. 22 to 29.
As of Wednesday, Dec. 29, a total of 183 active COVID-19 cases were recorded in Manila which is an increase of 107 cases compared to the 76 recorded cases a week earlier.

Majority of the cases are concentrated in the following Manila districts: Tondo 1 – 86 cases, Santa Mesa – 20 cases, Sampaloc – 17 cases, Tondo 2 – 14 cases, and San Andres – 12 cases.
The Manila city government noticed the holiday increase of about 13 active COVID-19 cases following the Dec. 24 to Dec. 26 holiday hence the implementation of a granular lockdown in select Manila districts last Dec. 28.
Tondo 1, San Andres, Pandacan, and Sampaloc are some of the areas which were placed under granular lockdown, according tothe team of Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso on Tuesday, Dec 28.
