The trough or extension of a typhoon with the international name "Nyatoh" may still bring light to heavy rains over Visayas and Mindanao, including some parts of Palawan in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Friday afternoon, Dec. 3.

The center of typhoon Nyatoh was estimated at 1,960 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon as of 3 p.m., weather specialist Raymond Ordinario said.

It has maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 230 kph while moving northeastward at 45 kph.

Due to the trough of the typhoon, scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may occur in Visayas, Mindanao, and southern Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, Ordinario said.

PAGASA warned those in these areas to stay vigilant due to possible flash floods or landslides, especially in the event of moderate to, at times, heavy rains.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon, locally called "amihan," may bring light rains over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, and northern Quezon including Polillo Islands.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to, at times, cloudy skies with isolated light amihan rains.
