Two Marikina City schools ready for face-to-face classes

Two schools in Marikina City are ready for the pilot run of face-to-face classes, according to Mayor Marcy Teodoro on Friday, Dec. 3.

In an interview with Teleradyo, Teodoro said that St. Mary Elementary School in Barangay Nangka and Tañong High School in Barangay Tañong are ready for the pilot run of face-to-face classes which will start on Monday, Dec. 6.

The two schools have been retrofitted with ventilation systems in the classrooms so as to reduce the risk of infection while passages and hallways around the school have been properly designated with entrance and exit signs and social distancing markers to assist the flow of students while maintaining safe distance.

Meanwhile, Teodoro also said that a city health and safety officer will be assigned to monitor the commute of students to and from school in order to gauge the means by which the students travel and if these are safe.

St. Mary Elementary School and Tañong High School are two out of 28 Metro Manila schools recently added by the Department of Education (DepED) to the list of 120 schools already approved for pilot implementation of face-to-face classes.

Metro Manila represents 28 out of 177 schools nationwide approved by the DepED for the pilot run of face-to-face classes.
