Mayor Vico bans posting of election posters on public properties

A memorandum banning the display of election campaign materials on city property was released by the Office of the City Administrator on Wednesday, Dec. 1.

The memo, signed by City Administrator Attorney Jeronimo J. Manzanero, was sent to the Head of the Pasig Peace and Order Department Lt. Col. Rodrigo M. De Dios, banning the display of “posters, tarpaulins, ribbons, and other related materials for political campaign and/or for commercial purposes on city-owned properties.”

Furthermore, the removal of any already posted electoral campaign materials has been authorized unless previously approved by the city government.

The memo clarified that the posting of electoral campaign materials will be tolerated on private properties.

Sotto also clarified that if private properties are mistakenly reported or punished for the posting of electoral campaign materials, residents are free to report these cases to Ugnayan sa Pasig (Usap), Pasig’s transparency and communication platform.

Mayor Vico Sotto, in a Twitter post, condemned politicking on public property on Friday, Dec. 3.

“Kahit tarp ko pa yan (Even if it is my own tarp),” said Sotto in his tweet.

In 2019, Sotto ordered the removal of a tarpaulin greeting him on his birthday.
