Marikina city depletes its vaccine stock; vaccination sites temporarily closed on Dec. 3

All vaccination sites in Marikina city were temporarily closed on Friday, Dec. 3 due to depleted vaccine stock.

Marikina city depleted its stock of vaccine doses which includes the 30,400 vaccine doses that were sent to Marikina by the national government on Saturday, Nov. 27 as part of the “Bayanihan, Bakunahan” national vaccination campaign according to Mayor Marcy Teodoro during a Teleradyo interview on Friday, Dec. 3.

“Naghihintay kami ngayon ng replenishment... Sa isang araw, ang output capacity ng ating mga vaccination site ay nasa 10,000 at nami-meet naman natin ito araw-araw (We are currently waiting for replenishment... In one day, our vaccine sites have an output capacity of 10,000 per day and we meet this requirement daily),” said Teodoro.

“Sabi sa akin ng National Vaccine Operation Center (NVOC) anumang oras ngayong araw ay darating ito at pagdating nito, pipilitin namin buksan muli miski ngayong araw at makapagbakuna ulit (The NVOC said that replenishment would arrive any time within the day and when this arrives, we will try to reopen the vaccination sites within the day),” said Teodoro.

Meanwhile, there are 6,500 pending vaccinees waiting for their turn to get vaccinated as part of the national vaccination rollout according to Teodoro.

Marikina has achieved herd immunity as 89 percent of the total population or 435,000 individuals including night-time citizens who reside in the city and day-time citizens who work or travel in the city have been vaccinated out of a population of 488,000, exceeding the Department of Health’s target of 70 percent.
