BTS grabs No. 1 spot on 9 Billboard year-end charts in 2021

K-pop superstars and Grammy nominees BTS emerged as the No. 1 artist in nine year-end charts for 2021 on Billboard.

“Billboard’s year-end music recaps represent aggregated metrics for each artist, title, label and music contributor on the weekly charts dated Nov. 21, 2020, through Nov. 13, 2021. The rankings for MRC Data-based recaps reflect equivalent album units, airplay, sales or streaming during the weeks that the titles appeared on a respective chart during the tracking year,” according to Billboard.

BTS bagged the No. 1 ranking on Billboard’s Overall Duo/Group, Hot 100 Duo/Group, Billboard 200 Duo/Group, Billboard Global Excl. US Artist, Billboard Global Excl. US Song with “Dynamite,” Digital Song Sales Artist, Digital Song Sales Song with “Butter,” World Albums Artist and World Album with “BE.”

On the year-end Hot 100 Songs chart, “Butter” placed 11th while “Dynamite” is No. 41. On the year-end Billboard 200 chart, BTS’ “BE” ranked 40th and “Map of the Soul: 7” placed 113th. BTS also ranked 12th on the year-end Top Artists chart and No. 4 on Billboard Global 200 Artist.

On the Billboard Global 200 year-end chart, BTS’ “Dynamite” is No. 5, “Butter” placed 12th, “Permission to Dance” at No. 71, “Life Goes On” at No. 133 and Coldplay X BTS’ “My Universe” ranked 154th.

“BTS Dominates Internationally: The seven-piece South Korean group is the year’s top artist, and has the year’s top song, on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. recaps. ‘Dynamite’ finishes at No. 1 on the year-end Global Excl. U.S. chart while their English language-follow-up, ‘Butter,’ is No. 5. BTS,” according to Billboard.

It added, “‘Dynamite’ and ‘Butter’ are two of five songs with which BTS has topped the weekly Global Excl. U.S. chart. In that pair, they reigned with ‘Life Goes On,’ ‘Permission to Dance’ and ‘My Universe,’ with Coldplay, each for one week.”

BTS wrapped up their “Permission to Dance-LA” concert at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Dec. 2.
