Throughout the years, whenever one would mention the Marriott Hotel at the Megaworld NAIA 3 complex, one would immediately associate the hotel, and all the enjoyable memories we would have there, with one person, Michelle Garcia. As Corporate Communications and Marketing/PR Head of the hotel, Mitch was a firebrand; blazing a trail of efficiency, effective communication, and, most importantly, deep friendships.

So when we heard that Mitch was leaving the Marriott, I had only two questions in mind—What would she be doing next? and How could I be of help? The answer to the first came pretty soon, via an invite to her launch of the UltraFresh Ultra Thin Baby Diapers, and Storytellers. Naturally, this would be held at the Marriott Hotel’s Manila Ballroom.

On the afternoon in question, accompanied and supported by her partner, Ariel Arce,Mitch was happy to announce how she was embarking on a new retail journey, representing a new brand of baby diapers—the UltraFresh Ultra Thin Baby Diapers. Priced very economically, the diapers use the latest in technology to provide a much more effective and comfortable way of keeping children protected against ‘accidents’ at a tender age.

To prove this, we were asked to examine the existing disposable brands in the market, and compare them with UltraFresh. It was cute how the waiters entered the room with diapers on their serving trays. Pouring a full glass of water on the inside of the UltraFresh diaper, it was amazing to note how quickly the liquid was absorbed and how the inside of the diaper was dry to the touch. I could imagine moms really happy about this as your infant or toddler wouldn’t be chafing or experiencing wettish discomfort.
I mentioned how they’re labeled Ultra Thin, and they certainly are. Again, I could see the moms in the room nodding their heads and beaming, as this spells comfort yet again; and when dressing up the children, it meant the diapers wouldn’t be bulging and would minimally alter their silhouette.
Mitch mentioned how it’s being sold online—Lazada, Shoppe and more; and that there is a business opportunity in the books, as they’re entertaining prospective secondary sellers. The UltraFresh diapers also appear in selected retail outlets. One can head to @ultrafreshph, their Instagram page to learn all the details. And you’ll see for yourself how the image model for the UltraFresh Training Pants is no other than Amos, Mitch and Ariel’s two-year-old son who turns three years old next week.

As for Storytellers, it’s the new PR and Marketing consultancy firm that Michelle has set up. Her stellar work at the Marriott has meant that this kind of experience, talent, and expertise needs an outlet.
One of the highlights Mitch mentioned is how Storytellers plans to be that medium in between influencers and the government agencies that impact on their work. What this means is that they’ll help these digital influencers get the right papers and registration for their income-generating ‘business.' Too often, we read about how this influencers have gotten into trouble with particular government agencies over this kind of paper trail for their earnings.
More than anything, the afternoon was a great opportunity to reconnect with Mitch and with Ariel. My baby diaper-handling days may be long gone, but I appreciated what UltraFresh was bringing to the table and how they’ll be making young children, and their parents, very happy.
