2 QC schools included in pilot run of face-to-face classes on Dec. 6

Two schools in Quezon City are all set for the pilot run of limited face-to-face classes on Monday, Dec.6.

“Ikinatutuwa ng pamahalaang lungsod na magiging bahagi ng pilot face-to-face classes ang dalawa sa ating mga pampublikong paaralan. Makatitiyak ang mga magulang na magiging ligtas ang kanilang mga anak, maging ang mga guro, sa kanilang pagbabalik-eskwela (The city government is excited that two of our public schools will be part of the pilot face-to-face classes. Parents can be sure that their children, including teachers, will be safe when they return to school),” Mayor Joy Belmonte said in a statement.

According to the Department of Education (DepEd), Bagong Silangan Elementary School and Payatas B Annex Elementary school in Barangay Bagong Silangan and Payatas are included in the 28 schools in Metro Manila that will participate in the pilot run.

In October, the local government started distributing safety seals to schools and institutions in preparation for the face-to-face classes which confirms their compliance with the minimum health and safety protocols and building regulations set by the national and local governments.

“Ang safety seal ang magiging batayan na nakasunod sa pamantayan ng health and safety protocols ang paaralan kaya’t nakatitiyak ang mga magulang, pati na mga guro, na magiging safe ang kanilang mga anak kapag nagsimula na ang face-to-face classes sa lungsod (The safety seal will be the basis for the school’s compliance with standard health and safety protocols so parents, as well as teachers, can be assured that their children will be safe once face-to-face classes begin in the city),” Belmonte said.

They will also provide hygiene kits and supplies for students as well as for the school.

Belmonte and the city’s inspection team composed of the Department of Building Official (DBO), Schools Division Office (SDO), City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU), and Education Affairs Unit (EAU) visited Payatas B Annex Elementary School, Bagong Silangan Elementary School and St. Luke Medical Center College of Medicine in Barangay Kalusugan.

The inspected schools also have isolation rooms and an ambulance.

Mayor Belmonte also said that the city is willing to support schools that need to be retrofitted to comply with standards and regulations.
