PHAPi: Hospitals ready to take in patients with firecracker-related injuries
Hospitals are prepared to treat patients with firecracker-related injuries, an official of the Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines Inc. (PHAPi) said Wednesday, Dec. 29.

In an interview with GMA News' Unang Balita, PHAPi President Dr. Jose de Grano assured that hospitals are ready to treat and manage fireworks-related injuries amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Halos lahat naman talaga ng hospital, kumbaga sa ano, mai-te-term natin na naka-red alert. Handa naman po sila sa kung ano man ang mangyari (Almost every hospital, we can say, is on red alert. They are ready for whatever happens)," de Grano said.
"Ineexpect po natin na may istriktong implementasyon ng mga pinagbabawal na paputok. So hopefully hindi ganun kadami ang madidisgrasya sa pagpasok ng bagong taon (We're expecting a strict enforcement of ordinances against illegal firecrackers. So hopefully there will be less firecracker-related injuries as the new year enters)," he added.
As of Tuesday, Dec. 28, the Department of Health said the number of firecracker-related injuries for this year has now risen to 23.
