The Department of Energy (DOE) and motorcycle ride-hailing platform Angkas have jointly recognized at least three service stations of leading oil firm Petron Corporation for "excellent service" they have been bestowing to customers.
The collaborative effort of the DOE and Angkas led to the search for at least 10 gasoline stations in the country that have been extending top-tier brand of service to their patrons as part of efforts to motivate all players in the downstream oil sector to always strive for exceptional system of operations, not just within the sphere of internal concerns of the business but more so in dealing with the public that they serve.
Essentially, the energy department and Angkas gauged the sterling performance of the oil stations via metrics -- such as on real-time monitoring of oil prices; as well as the overall exemplary performance of the retail outlets.
Petron gasoline stations that had been cited for ‘excellent service’ include Equity Petron service station along Taft Avenue corner Pedro Gil in Malate, Manila; LA Petron Service Center along Quezon Avenue in Sta Cruz, Quezon City; and the Local Boiler Fuel Services Inc. along Kamagong corner Metropolitan Avenue in San Antonio, Makati City.
On the joint monitoring done by DOE and Angkas, Petron stated that “all Petron stations in Metro Manila were assigned with a QR code for Angkas riders to scan allowing them to report the latest fuel prices to consumers.”
Angkas riders can also rate retail outlets based on four major criteria: cleanliness of forecourt; cleanliness of comfort rooms; good station personnel service; and presence/availability of air and water facilities.
This is the first year that the DOE-Angkas tandem has recognized oil firms for their outstanding service to customers. The winners were awarded by Energy Undersecretary Jesus Cristino Posadas last December 7.
“This recognition is a testament to Petron’s strong compliance to standards set by the DOE and its commitment to always provide top-quality products and customer service,” the oil firm said.
Petron is the country’s biggest player in the deregulated downstream oil sector. The homegrown brand also made successful inroads into an offshore territory – primarily in Malaysia which is now its other major market base.
The giant oil firm also stands tall as the only remaining player in the refining segment of the domestic oil industry, after it had triumphantly waded through the financial doldrums brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.
