Taguig LGU to hold drone, fireworks displays at BGC

The Taguig City government will be holding drone and fireworks displays on New Year’s Eve in three areas in Bonifacio Global City (BGC).

According to BGC, to welcome 2022, the simultaneous fireworks displays will be held on Dec. 31 at 5th Avenue, Bonifacio High Street with a drone display starting at 11:55 p.m., Uptown Parade Steel Carpark, and Market Market Open Carpark.

“BGC is the best place to be this New Year’s Eve as the City Government of Taguig prepared a spectacular drone and fireworks display that can be seen all throughout the estate. This will also be complemented by the community’s twinkling lights and variety of al fresco dining options for you and your family to enjoy,” according to BGC.

The Taguig Safe City Task Force issued Advisory No. 60 to set the guidelines for activities and businesses during the holiday season.

According to the task force, to implement President Duterte’s Executive Order No. 28 issued in 2017 on the regulation and control on the use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices and Republic Act 7183, or the regulation on the sale, manufacture and use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices, “community fireworks displays are allowed only in designated zones or areas in the City of Taguig during the holiday season.”

“All private and public establishments who wish to hold firework displays in any of the designated zones or areas must secure a clearance from the Safe City Task Force, aside from the required permits under the law,” it added.

In December 2020, the Taguig City Council approved Resolution No. 51 “banning the use of firecrackers within Taguig City.”
