The Pasig City local government reminded the public on Tuesday, Dec. 28, that the use of firecrackers in time for the upcoming New Year celebration is still prohibited.

Under Executive Order No. PCG-101, s. 2021 and Pasig City Ordinance No. 2017 or “Firecracker Regulation Ordinance,” the use of firecrackers, pyrotechnic and explosive devices are strictly prohibited except in places designated by the barangays.

Meanwhile, the utilization of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices outside the designated zones requires getting a permit from the city government through the Office of the City Administrator.

To get the permit, the following details should be indicated:

• nature of the intended activity;

• type of firecrackers, pyrotechnic devices, and other explosive devices to be used or operated;

• specific location;

• how the minimum public health standards will be implemented during the event.

“Hindi pa rin po tuluyang natatapos ang ating laban sa pandemya, lalo pa ngayon na mayroong Omicron variant. Panatilihin po natin ang ibayong pag-iingat para sa kaligtasan ng lahat (Our fight against this pandemic is not yet over, especially now that we have the Omicron variant. Let’s keep taking care of ourselves for the safety of all),” the city government said in its Facebook post.
