The areas affected by typhoon Odette have already received more than P146.88 million worth of humanitarian assistance, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said Monday, Dec. 27.

The DSWD’s Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) said as of 6 p.m., Dec. 27, the aid given to the areas hit by Odette in 10 regions totals P146,883,675.25.
The assistance was provided by the DSWD, the local government units (LGUs), non-government organizations (NGOs), and other partners.
The DSWD has logged 81,334 evacuee-families or 319,558 individuals from 1,271 evacuation centers.
Meanwhile, the number of families who opted to stay with their relatives and friends increased to 65,950 or 212,331 individuals.
The DROMIC showed that more than 1.18 million families or over 4.65 million individuals from 6,219 barangays have so far been affected by Odette.
The DSWD said the 10 affected regions were Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Davao, Soccsksargen (South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, General Santos), and Caraga.
Based on the DROMIC report, the number of houses damaged due to Odette increased to 444,341. Of these, 137,968 were totally damaged houses and 306,373 were partially damaged.
“Ongoing assessment and validation are continuously being conducted,” DROMIC said.
