Mayor Binay urges residents to get boosted vs. COVID-19

Makati City Mayor Abby Binay urged Makatizens on Monday, Dec. 27, to get themselves boosted amid the threat of COVID-19 and its Delta and Omicorn variants.

Binay said that after the Department of Health (DOH) amended the protocols in administering booster shots, the local government unit (LGU) immediately ramped up its information campaign and vaccination programs to further increase the protection of its residents.

The DOH shortened the interval of the administration of booster shots to three months for those fully vaccinated with Pfizer, Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Sputnik, and Moderna vaccines, while those inoculated with the single-dose Janssen vaccines may get their booster shots two months after their primary shot.

Binay said those who wish to get themselves vaccinated or receive their booster shot may proceed to the city's vaccination sites which are open on Monday, Dec. 27, to Wednesday, Dec. 29.

All vaccination sites will be closed on Dec. 30 to Jan. 2 in celebration of the New Year, and will resume their operations on Jan. 3.

The mayor said that walk-ins for booster shots are allowed in the following vaccination sites: Makati Coliseum; Ayala Malls Circuit; Glorietta 2; San Lorenzo Place Mall; Fort Bonifacio Elementary School; Benigno Aquino High School, and Nemesio Yabut Elementary School.

The Makati Health Department (MHD) reported that the city has already deployed 1,006,595 COVID-19 vaccines as of Dec. 24. Of this number, 454,055 residents have received their first dose while 426,519 have been fully vaccinated.
