Duterte still can’t decide on the presidential bet to support—Bong Go

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go on Monday said President Duterte is still undecided on the presidential candidate to support in the upcoming May 2022 eleections.

As of now, Go said the President is more focused on providing assistance to those affected by Typhoon Odette.

“Up to this date, wala pa po. At parang ayaw munang pag-usapan ni Pangulong Duterte ang pulitika dahil nasa krisis pa nga tayo. Pangit naman pag-usapan ang pulitika dahil mayroon pa ngang mga biktima ng typhoon at nasa gitna pa tayo ng krisis ng COVID-19 (There’s none. It seems like President Duterte does not want to discuss politics because we are still in a crisis. It’s not good to talk about politics because there are still many typhoon victims and we are still in a COVID-19 crisis),” Go said in a radio interview over the weekend.

“Hopefully, sana bago mag-formal campaign period ay mayroon nang mapupusuan si Pangulong Duterte para naman makampanya rin 'yung tao (before the campaign period, the President has chosen whom he would support and so we can campaign for that candidate),” said Go.

Go, a staunch ally of the President, had earlier withdrawn his certificate of candidacy (COC) for president.

The senator reiterated he will support the candidate who would be endorsed by the President and will continue the Duterte administration’s initiatives.

“Ako naman po, kung sino ang gusto niya at makakapagpatuloy ng mga programang inumpisahan ni Pangulo, ‘yon ang aking susuportahan (On mypart, I will support whom he wants to support and will continue what he has started),” Go said.

“I am willing to campaign doon sa makakapagpatuloy ng mga magagandang programa ni Pangulong Duterte, (to anyone who can continue the programs of President Duterte,” the lawmaker assured.
