The Department of Health (DOH) said on Monday, Dec. 27, that approximately 141 health facilities were damaged by typhoon Odette.

During the President's pre-recorded public address, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III reported damages in Region 4-B, Region 6, Region 7, and Caraga. Damage was pegged at P195.4 million.
Among those that were affected were 50 hospitals, one DOH Center for Health Development (CHD), 45 barangay health stations, 41 rural health units, two provincial DOH offices, one city health office and one temporary treatment and monitoring facility (TTMF).
Meanwhile, he also said that there were reports of clustering of cases of acute gastroenteritis and diarrhea reported in Dinagat Islands, Siargao, and Cebu Province.
Eighty gastroenteritis patients were admitted to the Dinagat District Hospital while 54 diarrhea cases were hospitalized in Siargao District Hospital. On other hand, 16 diarrhea cases in Cebu Province are still being verified by CHD Region 7.
Duque said that they are continuously monitoring the clustering of the said water-borne diseases in these areas and the transport of medicines as well as other logistical support.
To date, according to the data provided by Duque, P22.1 million worth of logistical support was provided while P300 million worth of funds for rehabilitation of health facilities has been allocated by DOH.
Duque also stated that P8.8 million worth of medicines, medical supplies, health kits as well as Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) have been deployed from the DOH Central Office to Region 4-B, Region 6, Region 7, Region 7, Region 10 and Caraga.
A total of P13.3 million have been donated by DOH CHD to Region 4-B, Region 7 and Caraga while a total of P100 million each has been given to Caraga, and Central Visayas' regional offices on Dec. 24, said Duque.
Meanwhile, P30 million has been given to Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) while P70 million was also given to Eastern Visayas on Monday.
Duque also mentioned that 32 response teams have been deployed by CHDs, local government units (LGUs), and non-government organizations (NGOs) to different regions which includes 11 in Caraga, seven in Region 8, while five in Region 7 to provide medical assistance and conduct rapid health assessment and surveillance as well as rapid nutrition assessment.
