The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is looking to start the printing of the official ballots to be used in the May 2022 polls on Jan. 15.

"By our estimates, we will start (printing the ballots) on Jan. 15," Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez said in a virtual press briefing Monday, Dec. 29.
During the 2019 polls, the Comelec used a 24-inch ballot which was longer than the 17 inches used in 2016.
Jimenez also showed to the media the test ballot that will be used in the Dec. 29 mock polls.
"It is a whopping 30 inches long with the front bearing the presidential candidates and all the other positions, while the back will be all party-lists," he said.
Meanwhile, Jimenez was asked regarding the temporary restraining orders (TROs) the Supreme Court (SC) on the accreditation of some party-list organizations.
He said they are still waiting for the actual resolution to come out in order to be clarified what exactly what the Court wants to restrain.
"If they are temporarily restraining the (party-list) raffle, it is already over. What is left to restrain there?" Jimenez said.
"If it is the ballot printing they are seeking to restrain, then that is going to be a problem," he added.
The Comelec earlier denied accreditation to 107 party-list groups which prompted some to go to the SC.
