PAL transports 100,000 kgs of relief items in 'Odette'- hit areas, rescues 430 persons
The Philippine Air Line (PAL) Group has flown close to 100,000 kilograms of food packs, water bottles and other basic necessities for the residents who were affected by Typhoon Odette in the Visayas and Mindanao.
At the same time, the PAL Group rescued 430 residents and stranded individuals from Siargao through five recovery missions from Siargao to Manila from Dec. 19 to 24.
PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna said the relief items came from the donations of the Tan Yan Kee Foundation, the Lucio Tan Group, various government agencies, and non-government organizations.

The donations included 500 boxes of mineral water bottles from the Tan Yan Kee Foundation.
"Utilizing our 86-seater De Havilland Dash8-400 NG, we have flown humanitarian aid such as food packs, water bottles and various necessities. PAL continues to engage with various stakeholders to provide support for the typhoon affected provinces," said Villaluna.
For his part, PAL Express President Bonifacio Sam said both the transportation of relief items and typhoon victims is the company’s way of assisting the government in its rescue and relief efforts.
"It is a privilege for the PAL Group (PAL and PALex) to be of service to our stranded countrymen in Siargao,” said Sam.
