Metro Manila's COVID-19 reproduction number increases to 0.70 – OCTA
Amid the holiday “uptick” of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) positivity rate in Metro Manila, the OCTA Research group, on Sunday, Dec. 26, said the region’s reproduction number has increased to 0.70.

Reproduction number refers to the average number of secondary infections estimated to stem from a single case.
In a Twitter post, OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David said that as of Dec. 22, Metro Manila’s reproduction number has increased to 0.70. On Dec. 15, the National Capital Region’s (NCR) reproduction number was at 0.42.
“The holiday uptick may explain the increasing reproduction number and positivity rate ,” said David.
OCTA previously said that due to the “decreased testing over the holiday season,” there will be no clear picture of the situation until the first week of January 2022.
Meanwhile, the group of independent experts urged the public to be vigilant against the virus and to continue practicing minimum public health standards amid the celebration of holidays. (Charie Mae F. Abarca)
