Manila sees small increase in active COVID-19 cases


A total of 91 active coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases were recorded in Manila as of Sunday, Dec. 26.

A majority of the 91 cases are concentrated in Tondo 1, with 29 cases of COVID-19.

This is an increase of about 13 cases since the last tally by the Manila Public Information Office on Friday, Dec. 24 which saw 78 active cases.

Despite the increase in cases, the city of Manila has maintained less than 100 active cases for 21 days straight.

The city also has achieved herd immunity as Manila has fully vaccinated 1,461,118 of the adult population, which represents 108.11 percent of the Department of Health’s 70 percent target of 1,351,487.

Aside from the adult population, as of Dec. 23 about 98,036 minors aged 12 to 17 have also been fully vaccinated in Manila while 91,224 doses of COVID-19 booster have been deployed.
